That’s what we’re doing…we’re gaining progress through persistence. After the pre-season madness that plagued the Woods Racing camp, things are looking a little better after this past weekend. Every car that we sponsor made a top 10 finish, including 2 podiums. It was quite a relief knowing that all the hard work does pay off.

It was a bit of a busy go with Drift-zilla, as you know I was on “vacation” down at the Indy 500 and came back just time to prep the car for Saturday’s DMCC round 1 competition in Montmagny Quebec.

We we’re having some problems with the car as you can re-read here: Racecars, Puzzles, Pieces and Pride and we pretty much only had a day to get it all right, without a dyno, without a test session and a whole lotta hope.
.
I rely on Mats to introduce factors with the car, I mean, it’s my first year mechanically involved with drift, and I’m used to big V8’s makin 500hp, not these 2.5L turbo’s makin 500hp. It’s a culture change for sure. So I ask a lot of questions, listen to his feedback and do the best we can from there. We went over the Drift4Cash event and ruled in and ruled out items. We spent the day making the changes I thought were needed and Mats came up with some good ideas also.

Mats gave me the biggest compliment a driver can give his mechanic. “From a driver’s standpoint, the car ran perfect.”

There are a couple things that we need to do to the car, but at least we now know what.

Mats was killing it out there on raceday, unfortunately a spin out on the chase run against Miro ended the day inside the top 8 but that put us 6th in points and we gained a ton of ground. We got a handle on this car now and a win is definitely in our sights.

Over in the pro-am competition, Matt in the white Canada Synthetics / Gold in the Net car was flying high. This kid is full of talent and will no doubt be a force in the years to come.

He easily secured a Top 4 but luck slipped out when he kissed the wall ending his day. We’re all really proud of him because there’s a quality to a driver that is needed to be successful and he has it. Being in good spirits after anything this mistress we call racing can throw at you is a key in being great. You have to pick yourself up and keep going and that’s exactly what Matt did.

Anyone who can play air guitar with their busted up fender is cool in my books…that’s what this is, racing, and crashing is a part of this. It’s going to happen. Matt has the endurance and respect that makes it easier for everyone.

Over in CTCC, the Fastco team after recovering from an engine failure at ICAR the day before raceday, secured themselves a 2nd place podium finish with Nick Wittmer behind the wheel. This is great news for that camp as Martin works tirelessly on these cars to make sure they do what they need to.

After a couple rounds of struggling it’s great to see this crew back on the podium.

Now, some great news for 7x Racing out in Cornwall…we got ourselves a win on Sunday. Dave crossed the checkered with a 7-8 car length lead confirming that he’s not here to play around. I was so happy to hear that because if anyone deserves a win, it’s Dave. He’s worked so hard on that car and the team is so persistent that it’s inevitable that we’ll see him more often in the winner’s circle.

So all in all things are going forwards with us here. We’re putting the pieces together and we are surely on our way to some great wins.
