A smart move:

So it turns out it was fine that Mats stayed in during the rainy event. Since half the field didn’t race and the fact that Claude Poirier had mechanical trouble, as well as Kevin Grenier’s incredible roll-over (which he walked away from thankfully) the Gold in the Net Drift team actually moved up 2 spots to 13th overall in the East Division

It was a tough decision for Mats, he is dedicated to the race, and dedicated to his sponsors, so making the call to stay parked was indeed trying. I fully supported his decision because from a sponsor standpoint…I would rather him be in top shape for round 6, rather than dragging a broken car home.

The track there in St.Eustache is a slippery one on the stretch. They have dragnights there and the drifters have to drive through the burnout box. With all that rubber on the track…add a bit of water and it’s slippier than ice. After seeing the new body and paint on the car…with one round (Round6 – Toronto) I would have hated to see him end up like most of the others with busted body panels and dented wheels. Of course the DMCC wanted everyone to go out to put on a show, and I completely understand…but at the end of the day, they aren’t paying the repair bill.

Overall it was a good day. We got some good exposure and we’re slowly getting the CanadaSynthetics name more in tune on the drift circuit. I was finally able to meet Mats teammates as well as some more of his family, and I’ll be the first to say that he has an amazing group with him out there.

I thank them for the hospitality and can’t wait for the next chance I get to go see another round!

And also a quick thanks to Maxime Bray for letting me steal some photos from facebook!

Back home, and wet!

.

Well…back at home after a long enough day…like any race day, it’s a good day except when there’s rain. As a smart collective decision, after the rain started it was agreed that Mats would not go back out It’s a good decision that I support and it’s better to keep the car in one piece than risk it for wet racing.

I’ll update this more tomorrow but here some pics from Chris Micheletti.

Looks like rain over here, there’s a drivers meeting going on…guess we’ll see!

Just checkin in, I’m here a Autodrome St Eustache with the Gold in the Net / Canada Synthetics drift team. The car is looking great and were excited for the day to start!
Stay tuned for pics and info!
