End of July, beginning of August…always a tad slower ’round here. It breaks down like this:
.

  1. A- Cars are already destroyed and budgets are busted
  2. B- Cars are running perfectly
  3. C- Owners are on vacation

.
That’s how it is with the race cars. Let’s take a look at our crew.
.
The drift-zilla is currently at the Gold in the Net Drift Team’s HQ while Mats and the crew are off to summer goalie camps. The car is running awesome. Still got a bashed fender to deal with, but otherwise it’s all set.
.
Dave out in Cornwall has his car running well but I’m sure he’s still nursing his hangover from his bachelor party last weekend. He finished 8th in the feature, which considering the shenanigans the night before, not such a bad deal…ha!
.
Martin and the Fastco crew is doing alright, getting ready for GPTR which is coming up, but the cars are good he’s got that under control.
.
So…for me…what do I do?
.
Well, I still have regular maintenance things to do and of course oil changes, lots of em actually. I could clean up the shop, maybe catch up on some paperwork…or even right a few blogs, but let’s be honest here…I’d rather be climbing in and out of something with a roll cage, a power adder, heck gimmie anything that has seen track time in the last week and I’ll be happy!
.
So what do?
.
The Cornwall fireball enduro is comin’ up in a little more than a month, and looks like Luke Marti has a bit of a jump on me and could very well be finished building his car so I better get cracking.
.
For me in the 6cyl class, I got this 1989 Volvo something’er’other…it’s a tank and my dad and I got a jump start on it already and have it pretty much stripped.
.

.

.
And for my bro in the 4 cyl class, he’s got this tiny red wrecking machine that is also stripped and basically ready to go…
.

.
There’s really only the windows to take out and weld the doors and such shut, but we’ll wait till the week prior so as not to have the car filled with rain water.
.
So that kinda rules that out.
.
I could take the dune buggy out for a rip, but it looks like rain, and TBH, don’t feel like having to hose it off afterwards…The WR04 is in it’s usual perfect condition…the WR Jeep is…well, it is what it is…needs an engine, so that’ll wait.
.
Sigh…well…it’s lookin’ more and more like I guess I gotta get some actual work done.
.
WILL SOMEONE BRING ME SOMETHING WITH A SET OF SLICKS??? PLEASE!!!!
.
lol…cheers guys, stay fast!

WR/CS to support Baribeau South of the border

St.Lazare July 20th 2011
.
In a collective decision involving all parties of the Canada Synthetics / Gold in the Net Drift team, it is agreed that for the remainder of the 2011 season, all marketing and competitive efforts will be shifted from the DMCC series and pointed towards the Hold The Line series in the North Eastern United States.
.
After reviewing the season thus far and completing mid season reports, it is certain that marketing, competition and the costs related to such will be better served outside of the DMCC environment.
.
The CS/GITN drift team will compete in the remaining HTL events and will not attend the DMCC Round 4 event in Montmangy, Québec.
.
We would like to thank all of our fans that have been following and supporting us and we welcome them to keep following us on our “Gold in the Net : Drift Team” facebook page and also our new website www.matsbaribeau.com.
