Whoulda thought they’d go together eh?
.
Well in this case, the BMW is a Motorcycle, and the Ammo cases are new saddle bags.
.
We were called upon to help out a buddy, Michael wanted to mount these super cool vintage army surplus ammo cases onto the sides of his wicked BMW. We had a bracket, the boxes, some beers and a welder..a fun little after hours project.
.
.
They had to be solid on the sides, since I’m pretty sure Michael thinks he’s Mad Max at times:

So they would have to hold up to vibration, and whatever else he plans to put them through. They also had to lock on there to avoid theft…and they also had to be a quick disconnect so he could use em say, as a chair and a foot stool around a campfire kinda thing. In boring terms, safe, secure and convenient.
.
We used some channel, welded it across the bottom of the boxes as a support, some square tubing to create a slide on braces, drilled some holes, welded some welds ate some dorities and we were off to the races…well, in this case, who knows where we went when he ripped outta here.
.
.
We got one side mounted up, it came out pretty level and we were happy with it. Needed to tweak it a bit, but nothing too bad.
.
.
The other side was pretty simple considering we pretty much had it cased (pun intended) from the first side..got it all welded, drilled and mounted and he was set!
.
I really enjoy doing little projects like this, I enjoy fabrication and like making 1 of a kind items. I thank Mike for choosing Woods Racing for this, as it’s not only race cars we do here..we do it all!
