It’s true, it won’t be long until it looks like this outside. Normally the WR04 has its own little place in the shop, but it does make an outer appearance in the winter months.

I got home this morning and found some snow on the cars here…got me thinkin…it wasn’t that long ago that some of us were cursing at the heat, we even missed a couple track days due to abnormally high temps, but hey, once the November wind kicks in with December on her heels…what we wouldn’t give to turn back time to July.

This time of year, the fall, is beautiful yes, especially out here in St.Lazare/Hudson, but doesn’t mean I love it. It’s that in between fun and fun. No more racing, no snowmobiling. The only thing going fast is the mercury headed south.
It seems, I can never be warm this time of year. I mean, gimmie -26 with a wind chill and I’m good, but -3 and rainy? I shiver my self into a tantrum. You’d think we’d be used to it but nope. Every year, the same deal.

I think I’m jealous of the southern states for only these fall months. Once it snows, Florida can keep its hot muggy sun, we’ve got trails to blaze and icetracks to race on.
They are pretty lucky though, no downtime with two kinds of Christmas trees at once. Ok, I’m a little envious in the winter months.

This is also the season for low modifications and high basic maintenance. Winter tires, brakes, oil and coolant….this is what we do this time of year. Keeps people safe and prepared for the upcoming winter and of course, pays our bills. We’re pretty lucky in that sense, the same folks that trust us with their high horsepower machines, bring their winter cars in also. I appreciate that in my clients and for sure, we’ll pay just as much attention to your winter beater as we will to your summer toy.

I’ve thought a lot about the Autumn this year. Maybe because we were so heavily involved in racing this year that suddenly it all ended and I was left standing in the midst of boxes of broken parts and papers with broken records. Perhaps next year ill think of a way to start something up, maybe some sort of Autumn racing league…maybe ill call on my EVF (epic-velocity.com/forums) buddies to help me out with a plan over the winter. Maybe something between dirt and ice racing, somehow mix the two into a fun event.
